NAB statement converter

NAB statement to Excel

Download your NAB statement as a PDF from online banking, drop it here and get every transaction as a spreadsheet. Nothing is uploaded.

  • Your PDF stays on your device. The browser reads the file without uploading it.
  • Check the running balance. If a row doesn't add up, it gets flagged, so you know exactly where to look.
  • Excel, CSV, QuickBooks, Xero. Dates come out in the format your software expects.

Drop your PDF bank statement

How it works

Review before you export

  1. Drop the PDF

Download a text-based PDF from your online banking and choose it above.

  2. Check the ledger

Review the extracted dates, descriptions and amounts. Where a running balance is available, the converter flags differences.

  3. Export

Download an Excel workbook or a CSV ready for QuickBooks Online, Xero, Google Sheets or your tax software.

Why bookkeepers use it

Built for people who reconcile for a living

Private by design

The converter reads your PDF on this device with PDF.js. Your statement is not uploaded to our servers.

A balance check on every row

Each transaction is added to the previous balance and compared with the balance printed on the statement. Green means it matches. Red rows show you exactly where to look.

Tested with 13 synthetic layouts

Our tests cover US, UK, Australian, European, Brazilian and Chinese formats. These are made-up statements, not certification for every bank listed below.

FAQ

Questions

Can I convert a NAB statement to Excel for free?

Yes. Drop the NAB PDF statement on this page and download the Excel file. Free accounts can convert 3 statements a day.

Is my NAB statement uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDF is read by your browser on your own device and never sent to a server.

How do I know the conversion is correct?

Wherever the statement prints a running balance, Sparrow Tools adds each transaction to the previous balance and compares the result with the printed figure. Matching rows get a green tick. Any row that does not match is highlighted in red so you can fix it in the table before exporting.

Does it work with scanned statements?

Not yet. Scanned or photographed statements are images without a text layer. Download the statement again from your online banking as a PDF and that file will convert.

Can I import the result into QuickBooks or Xero?

Yes. Use the QuickBooks CSV export for QuickBooks Online bank uploads (Date, Description, Amount) and the Xero CSV export for Xero's statement import. Choose the date format your software expects before downloading.

How NAB statements are converted

NAB statements list debits, credits and balance with CR/DR suffixes on balances.

Sparrow Tools detects those columns automatically, joins multi-line descriptions and turns every amount into a real number. Dates are exported as DD/MM/YYYY by default and you can switch to ISO or another style before downloading.

If a NAB statement layout ever trips up the converter, the balance check flags rows with differing balances when the statement provides them, so you can correct them in the table before you export.
